This video tutorial will demonstrate how to find course textbooks and materials at the Lawrence W. Tyree Library.
The Library maintains a collection of textbooks and course materials called Course Reserves. These items are held behind the first floor Circulation Desk. The Library does not purchase textbooks. The only materials available are those that have been given to the Library by the course professor or department.
To look for items on course reserve, click the Reserves tab on the library website to access the quick search box.
You may search for items three ways. You can limit to Title or Author simply use the default Keyword search to search all fields. If you do not find your item through one method, try the others.
Find out more about an item, including its edition, by clicking the blue title in the search results. To see if the item is available, look at the bottom of the record across from Santa Fe/Northwest Campus Reserves. If you see Check availability, click this link to learn about the item's availability.
If a book is Available or Not Checked Out, you may check it out at the first floor Circulation Desk. Most items may only be used within the Library. If there is a date in the Due Date column, that copy is currently in use. If an item says Removed or Returned to Professor, that item is no longer at the Library. Please contact your professor about getting a copy put back on reserve.
Course reserves typically do not leave the library. You may copy or scan excerpts for later user. Copies are 10 cents a page using the printers located on the first and second floors. Free scanners are available on the second floor.
If you cannot find your item, you can check the full Library Catalog by using the quick search box on the main library website or by clicking the gray Catalog button. You may also contact a librarian for help searching, or ask your professor if they can put a copy on reserve.
This concludes the video tutorial on course reserves. If you have any questions, please contact a librarian:
