Watch this video to learn how to request books and videos from the Library’s physical collection.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with health and safety guidelines, there is no physical access to the stacks and collections in the Lawrence W. Tyree Library. Instead, you will be able to request items, and library staff will pull them for you. You will then be able to pick up these items at the Circulation Desk or using the Library’s curbside service.
To locate items you would like to pick up, use the library catalog. Click the gray Catalog button on the library website to access the catalog.
Use the library catalog’s search box to locate a book or video by its title, author, or topic.
Once you have located an item, you can see if it is available or already checked out.
To request the title, click the Place a Hold link. You may place a hold for both available and checked out items, but items that are checked out will be held for you only until after they are returned.
Next, you will need to log in. Your Borrower ID is your 8-digit Santa Fe ID number without the hyphen. Your PIN is the last 4 digits of your 8-digit SF ID number. Only currently enrolled SF students, faculty, and staff will be able to log in.
Next, select your pickup location. If you would like to pick up your item at the Library on the Northwest Campus, choose Santa Fe/Northwest Campus. If you would like to pick up your item at one of the SF Centers, choose that location. Click Place Request to submit your hold.
After you submit your hold request, library staff will pull your item and send a confirmation email to your Santa Fe College email address when it is ready to pick up.
On the Northwest Campus, you have two options to pick up your item. The first is to come to the first floor Circulation Desk. Please note that masks are required within the Library. You will need your SF ID card or another acceptable form of photo identification to check out materials.
If you would rather not enter the building, you may use the Library’s curbside service. Your confirmation email will contain specific instructions about how to use this service.
If you choose a Centers location, your item should be available within 3 business days to pick up at the reception desk.
Some items in the library catalog do not check out. These items usually have a status of NonCirculating and do not have a link to place a hold. If you need access to information from one of these items, please contact the Reference Desk for assistance.
This concludes the video tutorial on requesting items. If you have any questions, please contact a librarian:
