MLA Citation Guide

Introduction to MLA Style

The MLA citation style is primarily used by disciplines in the arts, humanities, and literature. The official guide is published by the Modern Language Association, and it is currently in the 9th edition.

There is also an online subscription version of the handbook, available to all SF students, faculty, and staff.

You may also wish to consult the MLA Style Center online, which contains many useful guides and regular updates to frequently asked questions

The navigation links will show you how to set up your paper in MLA format, and how to properly cite a variety of resources, both in your Works Cited list and within your paper using in-text citations.
