Finding Images Online

It's important to ensure that all images you find online are not copyrighted. You are not allowed to copy and reuse images found online unless the license permits it. Use the following websites to search for images that are available to be reused for free. Please note that you do not need to provide an attribution for a picture you take yourself.

No Attribution Required

The websites in this section include all CC0 images, which allow you to reuse the images without providing credit to the creator.

Attribution May Be Required

These websites include images with a variety of licenses, most of which require attribution. Carefully look at the license of each image to see if you should include an attribution.

How to Create Image Attributions

With the exception of CC0 and public domain images, most Creative Commons images require you to provide an attribution. An ideal attribution includes three components:

  1. The title of the image (use Image if there is no title)
  2. The creator of the image
  3. The Creative Commons license governing the image

Example Images with Attribution

"Apples" by Tom Gill is licensed under CC BY-NC-ND 2.0

"Green Apple" by Ү is licensed under CC BY 2.0
