Step 4: Go to the Correct Side

The entrance of the third floor shows that call numbers A-P are on the left and P-Z are on the right. The split happens at PQ/PR, so books with a PE call number will be to the left.

Step 5: Use the Shelf Guides to Find the Correct Aisle

Each shelf has shelf guides extending out so you can see the first and last call numbers down each aisle. We are looking for PE1319 .B66 2020. This shelf guide has P91 through PE1417, so this is the right aisle! (hint: remember to look on the reverse of aisles if your call number appears to be skipped!)

Step 6: Scan the Shelves

Now that you are in the correct aisle, scan the shelves to find your call number. Call numbers are first organized by letter (PE) and then number (1319) and then letter again (.B66). Take it one step at a time. First find the PE section. Then find the 1319 area. Then look for .B66.

Step 7: Success!

You have now found the book! Most books can be borrowed ("checked out") by bringing them to the first floor Circulation Desk. You may also use the book in the building without checking it out. When you are done with a book that you have not checked out, place it on any cart.
