PHI2010 Library Lessons: Home

Welcome from the Library

For this module, you will learn about the Santa Fe College library and the resources available to you. These resources will be helpful for any assignment requiring research, such as papers, projects, or posters, throughout your entire time at SF.

Read through the library lessons and watch the included video tutorials. After completing the module, you will know how to:

  • Find the information and resources you need on the Library's website.
  • Identify search strategies to effectively locate resources in the library catalog and databases.
  • Find a book and its call number in the library catalog.
  • Find an eBook in the library catalog and log in to open it.
  • Identify the characteristics of academic sources.
  • Find articles using Academic Search Complete and JSTOR.
  • Set up Google Scholar to connect to Tyree Library databases and search for articles using Google Scholar.
  • Create citations in the Chicago author-date style.

For More Help

If you have any questions on the library material or on your research, you may email the philosophy librarian, Diana Matthews (diana.matthews@sfcollege.edu). Please be sure to include your course and section number.

Research shows that students who consult with a librarian for research report lower academic stress.
