Finding Free Online Content

For free images and other multimedia to use within Canvas courses or other instructional materials, you may look for items with Creative Commons licenses, which allow for reuse. Be sure to check the license for media you are interested in, as there may be conditions such as providing an attribution.

Free Multimedia Resources

The following are sites with resources that may be used when creating websites or graphic projects. Please be sure to read the licenses for each site and (if needed) each individual resource; some may require you to give credit, while others may not.

For a good website explaining the differences in licensing, please view Creative Commons: About the Licenses.

Materials found on the Internet are protected by copyright law, even if there is no copyright symbol © present. If the content does not say "free" or "public domain," assume that the content is copyright-protected and that you must ask permission to use it.
