Building Operations

Introduction

In an effort to keep our community safe, we have physically distanced spaces in the building and altered services to provide continued support to students, staff, and faculty. This page details the changes we have made.

See also Library COVID-19 Services Information.

If you have any questions, please call the Reference Desk at 352-395-5409 or email reference@sfcollege.edu.

Building Expectations

Face masks are optional but recommended if you are not fully vaccinated.

Maintain physical distancing from all other users and library staff.

Food and drink may be consumed within the building. Please clean up any spills and throw away trash.

Wipe computers, tables, and chairs down after use.

Building Information

Some computers and furniture have been removed to maintain physical distancing. Distanced seating is available on the first and second floors. The third floor is available for browsing only.

To maintain physical distancing, elevators should be used by no more than two people at a time.

Stairwells are now open for all traffic.

Library Materials

All materials may be requested via the Place a Hold link in the library catalog and picked up at the Circulation Desk. Stacks are open for browsing.

Please return all items to outside or inside bookdrops. Do not hand to library staff.

Laptops are currently unavailable. Smaller peripheral items such as headphones and calculators are available for in-house use. These are cleaned via UV sanitation after each use.

Study Rooms

Study rooms have reduced occupancy. First floor study rooms are double occupancy only while second floor study rooms are single occupancy only. Some have been repurposed for physical distancing purposes. Reservations are recommended.

Library Instruction

All library instruction is virtual. Options include a live webinar, a customized library module, and an embedded librarian in Canvas. Faculty may request a session with the Library Instruction Request form.

Other Services in the Building

The Learning Commons provides tutoring and academic coaching on-site in Y Building and online via Canvas.

Coffee 101 is open Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Test proctoring is not offered in the Library. Please see the Testing Center for more information on proctoring.
